The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) invites all teachers, researchers, and language scholars to be a part of the first International Conference on Language Endangerment, with the theme “Sustaining Languages: Sustaining the the World.”  The event will be held from 10 – 12 October 2018, 8am – 5pm, at 6/F Conference Center, National Museum of Natural History, Teodoro F. Valencia Circle, Ermita, Manila.

The conference aims to integrate prominent research scholars on various aspects of language threats, documentation, and revitalization; disclose the experiences and best ways to research and develop the program; discuss various issues affecting languages; and develop a plan for promoting concrete projects about the threatened Filipino languages.

Among the plenary speakers and panel reactors are Dr. Peter Austin, SOAS University of London; Dr. Gregory Anderson, Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages; Dr. Ganesh Devy, People’s Linguistic Survey of India; Dr. Larry Kimura, University of Hawaii-Hilo; Dr. Brendan Fairbanks, University of Minnesota; Dr. Suwilai Premsrirat, Mahidol University; at Dr. Purificacion Delima, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

The public application has eighty (80) open slots, with fifty (50) allotted for participants from the Philippines, and thirty (30) slots for participants from different countries around the globe.

Registration is free of charge.  Walk–ins are strictly prohibited. Only those officially registered will be entertained.
